This poem was written by my friend Pete Walker, the "phantom poet". He was one of the best people I have ever met, & it was an honour to have been his friend. Sadly he passed away earlier this year. I have copies of a number of his poems which I will be illustrating or adding photos to, all profits from sales will go to his widow & children.
As both of my parents were talented artists I have always had a keen interest in visual art. I studied art & photography to a tertiary level, but didn't persevere any further as I found that earning actual money was more appealing! Having grown up in the U.K. I migrated to New Zealand at 21, continuing with drawing & photography as a hobby while doing various jobs in which I learned a number of different yet complimentary skills. While working as a self employed panelbeater & car painter I realised that if I could make complicated repair sections for cars I could also create steel sculptures, making all manner of things from dragons to roses.
